What should I do if I want to give my employees, staff, and their families gifts for xmas?
This is a question we hear almost every day at this time of year. It’s really simple: if you want to give your employees and staff gifts for Christmas, do it! Don’t ask me or my firm for permission, just do it. Many employers enjoy giving their employees and staff gifts for Christmas, and I know that my firm is one of them.
It is a good idea to talk with your employees and staff about your intentions for a gift exchange. If you have concerns, consider following these guidelines:
Make the exchange into a “secret Santa” type of event for Christmas.
Let each person write their name on a piece of paper with a price limit. This helps eliminate any feelings of entitlement as well as accusations of favoritism. Each person will anonymously pick out a gift for the other. They can make it themselves, buy it online or in a store or ask someone to make it for them (gotta love the creative side of crafting). The only rule is you must stick to your budget. If you want to be extra generous, you can include an additional anonymous gift for your secret Santa to keep for themself.
Many companies not only gift the printed shirts. They also gift decor ornaments for women, photo bags, xmas tree decoration, party box, birthday gifts for kids
When is the best time to give custom printed shirts?
When it’s cold out, we see lots of requests for jackets and beanie caps with embroidery. When it’s hot outside, we see more requests for custom screen printed t-shirts for outings, barbeques, and conventions. And when the sun is shining, we see requests for custom shirts with embroidery for date nights, birthdays, and anniversaries.
The bottom line? Custom embroidered apparel is a great investment.
What are the benefits of having personalized gifts for staff members?
We all know that if you give a personalized gift, it would go a long way to making someone feel special. That is why giving a personalized gift as a staff appreciation gift would be a great idea. You can give them something that they would actually use and enjoy. People tend to make a strong attachment to gifts given to them by their employers. It makes them feel valued and cared for.
Generous employers who appreciate their employees don’t have to wait to order custom printing garments for the holidays. The holiday season of giving lasts all year. Stop if you will for a moment and imagine any of these holidays if you added matching shirts to the occasion, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving day, fathers day, mothers day. How would they add to the joy? Would you be more inclined to make the occasion a destination holiday? Here the sky is the limit to taking your brand to the next level using custom printed or embroidered garments.
Let us see the ways you may approach to get your custom holiday printed t-shirts in upcoming sections.
Ways to get custom holiday printed gifts
Printing T-Shirt Designs Using Screen Printing
Screen printing on t-shirts is a popular way to add unique designs. It requires a wooden or aluminum mesh screen. The screenprinting screens are coated with a photo-sensitive emulsion that drys onto the screen. The stenciled image stays affixed to the screen when exposed to ultra-violet rays when exposed to the light.
How to create silk screen printing artwork for friends, women, kids, and all?
The silkscreen is the stenciled image of your logo. That image is then printed onto a t-shirt or other type of hoodie or other garments. The ink goes through the silkscreen stencil and onto the t-shirt. You can use many different colors of ink or just one color, depending on the design you want to make. The ink will give the t-shirt a unique look.
Should you print a large number of your team’s uniforms at a local screenprinting shop?
Certainly not! There are a number of problems with doing this. First, most screen printers want a minimum order of a few hundred pieces. Since they print in a four-color process (CMYK), the screens and plates they must make cost thousands of dollars for each color. This does not include the cost of paper, ink, and time involved to make sure the screen-printed garments look like your CAD art or digital artwork (yes, it is possible).
But many Professionals can do this printing method at a local screenprinting shop. One such local print and embroidery shop is Merlin embroidery. Our minimum screenprinting order is 48 shirts. Experience has taught us that a 48 shirt minimum is ideal for small businesses, teams, organizations, and clubs, to get the best price per shirt and average the cost of setup fees over the total quantity of shirts ordered. Lower your cost per shirt when you order more shirts. Forty-eight shirts are the beginning of the excellent pricing, and it just gets better and better the more shirts you order.
Instead of sending the work to a professional screen printer, you can focus on doing a home project of decorating shirts. I’ve included a few ideas below with some notes of caution.
Printing T-Shirt Designs Using Spray Printing, Brush Painting, Or Bleaching
When it comes to screen printing, you do have other options besides just the trusty old-fashioned methods.
Spray Printing
When Spray painting a print design onto a t-shirt, there are a few specific things you’ll need: a spray bottle, some stencils, and thinner to mix with the ink and clean it off your work area. You can create several stencils or repeat one you already made for this kind of innovative work.
This printing method, often used in home-based printing work. And we cannot use this method for industrial print because most of the spray paints are vinyl and aerosol. You’ll need good ventilation. We recommend outside or in a garage with the door open. Take frequent breaks where you walk away from the work area. After completing each shirt, you may want to let the stencil dry outside in the sun for a few minutes before spraying another shirt. If the stencil is dry, you won’t accidentally mark up a perfect garment with wet pain.
Brush Printing
Brush printing can paint the image you have in your hand directly onto a t-shirt or other textile. You can use ready-made stencils, cardboard cutouts, or nothing but your imagination to do this. Note that brush painting leaves a heavier feeling print. Brush painting can be messy but is excellent for creating one-off images.
Bleaching
Bleaching is easy to do using bleach pens. Leach is used to print patterns and lines on the fabric. It is not harmful to our skin, and it will not ruin our fabric also. One of the main types of modern screenprinting is based on bleaching the t-shirt fabric. It’s called Discharge printing. Discharge printing removes the dye color from a colored t-shirt, leaving the natural undyed shirt as a neutral color palette in the background to print. This print method is super soft to the touch but has added setup costs. Call your local professional screen printer for more information. Best print results require 100% cotton t-shirts.
T-Shirt Printing With Thermal Transfers
What are the benefits of heat transfers? What is a heat transfer?
Heat transfers are an easy way to add artwork or images to apparel. There are prepared, ready-to-use transfers you can iron on directly to your clothing—Preheat the garment a few seconds before applying the iron to turn clear and readable. Be sure to read how hot the press is and how long you apply heat to the garment. Most heat transfers require 350-400 degrees for 12-15 seconds. However, there will be specific instructions for each garment type and each heat transfer type. Be sure to read the instructions.
What is the difference between hot and cold peal transfers?
Similarly, there are two distinct heat transfers or Thermal transfers; hot peal and cold peal. In hot peal transfers, you want to peel the paper receiver off the heated design while it’s still hot or warm. Experience shows if you wait about 30 seconds after heat pressing, you can easily peel off the paper receiver without distorting the image. With cold peel, as the name suggests, you wait until the design has cooled off completely. The bottom line is that heat cures the ink, just like direct silkscreen printing. If the ink is fully cured, the garment and design will be long-lasting. If not, the design will wash and peel off after only a few washes.
You can also create your designs using an inkjet or laserjet printer onto the receiver paper, also known as transfer paper. The design is printed in reverse onto the transfer paper. Those printed areas are heat sensitive and will adhere to the garment when exposed to heat. For home projects, a simple iron can be used to cure the ink on a heat transfer. In the shop, we use a silicon sheet to cover the design. This protective sheet is placed between the heat panel and the garment to disperse heat evenly and avoid burning the garment. Avoid using a heat gun as you can easily scorch or burn the garment.
